BANK LAND are New Zealanders, Daniel Marchbank and Sarah Ryland. Originating from the south island city of Nelson, but until recently never having actually met in person. After being introduced on Facebook via a mutual friend, they began writing together.
20 year old Marchbank has a unique production talent that has seen him dabble with everything from Electro House to Drumstep under his Affinity moniker. His first release, ‘Submersion’, received support from Sister Bliss and Fedde Le Grande, while receiving airplay on BBC Radio 1, as well featured in the HBO television series ‘Looking’. His remix of Linier – All That Matters has clocked up over 130k SoundCloud plays to date.
Singer/songwriter Sarah Ryland, 25, has worked with several artists including Eddie Raynor of Crowded House, Mt. Eden, Basic Tape and The Upbeats. Her relaxed vocal style is airy and ethereal, all the while dripping in soul – as sexy as it is peaceful.
Their debut single, Take Me Down, showcases the core of both artists. Chords ascend awash in swirling reverb, creating a soundscape for the lush vocals and impactful drums. With a second single to follow in May followed shortly by an EP, 2016 looks set to be an exciting year for this young duo.
